A coffee by David Lynch? Yes

Rodrigo Varona

It was agent Cooper’s line but it was written by David Lynch. Today, the director owns his very own brand.

There are people for everything. Everyone has their own thing, something they are experts on and something they choose to focus their attention on. Just like the person who took pleasure in compiling all the mentions of coffee and cake throughout the 30 episodes of Twin Peaks (you can find it at slacktory.com) into just one video. Both time and amusement were key to creating this video, which is still preserved in viewers’ collective memory. In fact, its remake is already in the works and scheduled to premiere in 2017. As the coffee master, Agent Cooper led the cast in each episode (his daily zen moment was when he was holding a cup of coffee), though almost every character took part in some scene that included the morning ritual shared by millions of people every day. Just like the bizarre—even for the TV show’s standards—and tough Agent Gordon Cole. His character, played by Lynch himself, had been drinking coffee since he was three, and also collected espresso machines—like the Marzocco featured on the next page. As a homage to Balzac, he had been on a strict diet of 10 to 20 cups a day for several years. Nonetheless, he always drank his in a latte or cappuccino and never past 5:30 pm. But what is it you like about coffee, David? “For me it is part of an artistic life. It makes you feel good and stimulates the artistic process.” The genius has spoken.
